Hi! It’s been quite a while since I made an old-fashioned outfit post, so here is a week’s worth of looks that feel especially fresh heading into spring, with shoppable pieces from skate shoes to Pippi Longstocking merch, plus a renewed take on my rash guard agenda. Bon appetit!

If you like these posts, please let me know by liking and commenting here or on Esque’s Instagram, subbing to the Esque Substack (this) for free, getting bonus posts for five bucks a month, or for ZERO DOLLARS, share (tag me if on IG so I can see and thank you)! If you share with three friends (or enemies), you’ll automatically get a free month’s subscription to Esque’s paywalled posts. If you buy anything from an Esque link, there’s a chance I’ll earn a percentage commission at no cost to you—if you end up inspired by anything below, please send over a photo of your new togs by replying to this email and I’ll comp you a month of Esque!

If you cannot afford the $5/month, I totally understand—respond to any of my email sends and I will get you a $2 subscription or comp you, whatever you need. Esque is for everyone!

THANK YOU for being here, and I am always available @that.esque on Instagram for sartorial scandals/situations/summons. Here is a little (big, actually, this time) preview of what’s below the paywall:

  • Double-sided Alpaca Hat - $54 (Sale)

  • Vintage 1960s Coat - $175

  • Vintage O'Neill Women's Floral Surf Rash Guard - $39.11 (Sale)

  • Paolina Russo Skirt - $588.65

  • Collina Strada Cargo Pants - $424.61

  • Vintage Crocheted Bag - $15.77 (Sale)

  • Osiris Sneakers - $49.96

This fit is quite obviously inspired by Paolina Russo’s stylings:

The neopagan tie-dye skater realness the label has served up for the past few seasons has me wanting grotesquely gigantic sneakers and cargo pants to layer under clashing kerchief skirts. A psychedelically-colored Peruvian Chullo hat would also be perfect with this outfit. The acid-soaked colorways of PR would actually be really comforting mid-winter, but they’re perfectly celebratory for this time of year (congratulations on making it to April, guys, for real. That was a bad one). I’ve never seen a rash guard like the above, with a kimono-like front fold, and that adds even more appeal to what has been a fixation of mine for quite some time: the potential of the RG for EW (everyday wear).
