It's Liana Satenstein's Season, We're Just Dressing For It
Paying homage to the Yentacore legend's winter-ready fits.

Unfortunately, I have to start this piece on the winter-friendly stylings of the ineffable, the beautiful, the scarily prescient style writer Liana Satenstein (creator of NEVERWORNS) with three things you’ve already missed out on:
Liana just got married, so if by the end of this article you were getting any *ideas*, hang up your caps, lads and lasses, and wish her a hearty mazel tov.
Before taking herself off the market, she also took this specific jersey off the market, the Yentacore S-tier likes of which we may never see again.
The 2000s Gap turtleneck Liana sanctified as a veritable icon of nostalgia and coziness is almost as hard to find, though I’ve picked out a few consolation prizes for you below…

Liana’s piece de resistance and go-to look over the past few years has been a no-nonsense pinstripe suit:
Legend has it that if you wear pinstripes and stand veeeeeeery still, a rogue Anna Wintour might come and land on your shoulder:
This works with skirt suits, too (though the Anna-bait properties might not be quite as strong):
Continuing the thread of powerful Jewish auntie looks, Liana is often decked out in animal prints and chintzy, flowy silks, never afraid to stray from neutral colors or mismatch patterns:
This liner coat is readily available in its original army deadstock variation, and looks both hypermodern and Babushka-friendly with its loopy quilting:
The below Kapital version is a more off-the-wall take, but has a silhouette Liana frequently sports, showing off the collar area:
Liana prepped us in June for the resurgence of the Burberry check, which has since been corroborated across the fashion world:
I’m realizing the below might be a scarf *for dogs,* but I think it would look just as good around a homo sapien neck or over non-fur hair:

Liana’s answer to the question of “where do we go from Sambas?” is “Nike Shox, of course” (corroborated by the Martine Rose x Nike collab that mule-ified the bouncy sneaker). The two color palettes below reminded me of her proclivities toward the colors of an old leather couch in your Bubbe’s basement:
Below is a jumble of Liana-coded pieces for the fall, winter, and beyond. Notice the wide or dipped or otherwise interesting necklines, the injection of sportiness into classically feminine silhouettes, the very Yentacore touches of furs and silks, the fabrics that might be slouchy but are always fitted and feminine in a no-funny-business way, and the understated but ever-present sensuality in form, material, and concept. Liana does a great job of taking things like butterfly motifs and bows and making them read as unbearably sophisticated, never immature.
Lastly, the Meats beret sold by her now-husband is probably unbeatable as a go-to cold-weather cap:
