Wow--even at such a devastating time, you managed to write a good piece. Sending you positive energy and hugs.
I am in NYC but not connected to the fields that you are looking for. In any case, it is SO expensive here that I would encourage you to find stability elsewhere, save some money, and only then consider giving NYC a go.
I am so glad I locked in a subscription with you, your fashion and human content always hits 👌. My life also fell apart last year and I am still in the rebuilding stages. My heart goes out to you!! You are talented and treasured, even if it doesn't feel that way rn. Try to believe good things will happen. 💓
Aw, so sorry this all happened to you. Super sucks. Just saw the mercury is looking to hire a managing editor. Not sure if that’s the sort of thing you’re looking for. I hope the year only gets better from here.
I'm so sorry. Being unexpectedly unemployed sucks, and rejection, even at the hands of someone you knew you'd never go the distance with does too. Just in time for the holidays? That's just brutal.
I'm kinda in the same boat with work and while i can't afford to get myself a paid subscription at the moment, I am sending good energy your way and hoping it comforts you a little bit.
We live in this precarious hellfire world so I can't confidently say it'll get better. But it'll certainly feel better. Hang in there.
just a note on insurance - you can get free insurance if you’re unemployed through NY state of health! definitely look into that. hopefully you get a new job quickly enough you don’t need it but could be helpful in the meantime

I lived there for 8 years so it’s the only place that really feels like home sadly
Sending you big hugs, honey. I’m so sorry about all that shit.💕
So sorry these bad things happened, all at once and during the holidays. Sucks. I am a paid subscriber and think your writing is terrific.

wordsofmouth.org is a great newsletter with a lot of creative & nyc based jobs! I looked through it a lot when I was laid off last year ❤️
sending love-- i've been where you are, it's so hard but you're not alone
